Structure Fire Response

May 13, 2022

Last night shortly after 6PM the Chippewa Fire Departmen, along with our first alarm assigned mutual aid companies, made a quick response when alerted for working residential structure fire with reported entrapment.

First arriving units encountered heavy fire coming from both the front and back of the home.

It was determined during the incident that all residents had been accounted for and there was no one trapped in the home, however, the families pet dog was unable to escape and subsequently perished in the fire.

A second alarm had to be sent out for tanker trucks, as there are no near by hydrants in that neighborhood, and for a Rehab unit to provide water and cooling towels for the firefighters.

Crews were on scene for nearly 3 hours with no injuries being reported.

The home sustained major damage and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross was contacted for the family.

The Chippewa Fire Department (Sta. 22) wish to thank the first alarm companies of Beaver Falls (Sta. 11), Big Beaver (Sta. 14), Patterson Heights (Sta. 33) and Patterson Township (Sta. 90) for their quick response, as well as, our second alarm companies of Darlington (Sta. 18) for their tanker, South Beaver (Sta. 61) for their tanker, as well as, two engines to man our station for any other incoming calls and West Mayfield (Sta. 99) for their rehab unit.

The Chippewa Police department were also on scene and Medic Rescue provided an ambulance crew for standby.
